Welcome to the first edition of Leadership Initiatives! Our desire is to supplement your leadership journey with thought provoking and action step promoting ideas. This month: Leadership is present only where initiative dwells, when it is evidenced by those who follow. Without initiative a leadership vacuum exists. No excuses: Innovation, creativity and activity replace complacency, whining and mediocrity—and the person who doesn’t live in the latter will be the leader in the former. Understanding what to do, how to do it and the realistic expectations of results when proper initiative is applied is part of a leader’s quest for winning, and usually involves change—within the leader, first. This a worthwhile substitute for wallowing in the circumstances that are less than desired, so do something. Consider before you engage that your initiative and action must stand for the right according to shared core values of those who will be impacted by your action, that what you do must be worthy because you and your desires are properly aligned with expected results, and that your contributions will promote the good that applied values intend. Consider, initiate, engage, and lead.
